Cooking with Fresh Food
Our classes take place on a Wednesday night from 7pm to 9pm. We concentrate on using fresh food to make tasty, healthy meals. We grow some of our vegetables and herbs at the Ranui Community Garden. We try to keep cooking enjoyable and meal preparation short. Come join us if you are a 'tired cook', someone who has cooked for years and just doesn't feel like they can think of one new recipe, or someone who thinks they 'can't cook'. No one knows how to cook well until they have a little tuition - that is what we are here for and of course to have a bit of fun on a Wednesday night.
Preserving classes are held when fruit and food is seasonally available.
Ranui Community House has marmalade making days on a Saturday in August and usually in the summer we do have days where we bottle fruit, make jam, make chutneys and pickles but also do some more exotic methods of preserving - like preserving in oil or salt, or vinegar.
These classes are advertised on this website when planned and also at the noticeboard at the community house.
